STOP AAPI HATE CALLING ON ASIAN AMERICANS

As an organization dedicated to ending hate against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs), all of us at Stop AAPI Hate are deeply alarmed at the re-election of Donald Trump, who will once again have the chance to build on his legacy of racism and bigotry from the highest office in the land. And as we all know, it is a chance that his administration will be all too eager to take.

In office and on the campaign trail, we know Trump’s history of embracing racist rhetoric, enshrining hate into law, and trampling over our freedoms, our sense of safety, and our constitutional rights.

We remember, all too vividly, the hate and violence he ignited throughout his first term. In fact, it was Trump’s racist rhetoric during the COVID-19 pandemic — accusing Asian people of spreading the virus — that compelled us to found Stop AAPI Hate in the first place.

With Trump headed back to the White House, we are bracing ourselves for four more years of racist, anti-immigrant rhetoric and policies that threaten the civil rights and safety of our AAPI communities. And just as we did in the pandemic, our coalition is prepared to fight for justice and democracy.

Our mission is more important than ever. And we're getting right to work.

Under a Trump administration, we will defend the civil rights of AAPI communities, documenting anti-AAPI hate through our reporting center, and pushing back against the racism and xenophobia we know are coming — even as it comes from Donald Trump or the Trump administration.

And, we’ll do it in community with one another. In the eight years since he first took office, we’ve taken every chance to mobilize against injustice. We’ve marched for women’s rights and rallied against the Muslim Ban. We’ve taken to the streets, advocating for Black Americans and Asian Americans alike. And we’ve built a nationwide movement for racial justice that our coalition is proud to be part of.

Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are the fastest-growing racial group in the country. We are done being scapegoated, silenced, and sidelined. If we work together, there is no doubt in our mind that we have what it takes to build a united front against Donald Trump and his dangerous and divisive political agenda.
