UCA is working with other national civil rights organizations to organize a 3K Walk on the National Mall to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, with a rally in front of the majestic Lincoln Memorial on the morning of Sunday, June 30th. Note: in requesting permit wiht the Park Services
It will be an exciting event as the finale for our 2024 Chinese American Convention, themed "Embracing The Civil Rights Movement of Our Time."
Enacted on July 2, 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law an act that would change the dynamic of America forever. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended legal segregation in public places and made discrimination illegal. While progress has been made, there is still work to be done. Let us take this unique opportunity to commemorate the 60th anniversary of our civil rights movement.
Please ensure your return travel arrangements are scheduled for Sunday afternoon, June 30th (after 3pm, preferably.). We recommend preparing a pair of comfortable shoes suitable for this event.
Note: we are requesting permit with the D.C. Park Services. |
