“Sleep in Adolescents:  An Early and Potentially Modifiable Warning Sign”
Webinar by Lauren Asarnow, Ph.D.  Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, U.C. San Francisco

Pleasanton, Calif. (November 7, 2021) --- On Tuesday. December 7, 2021, Dr. Lauren Asarnow will present a webinar to discuss sleep as a potential target for intervention in the prevention and treatment of mental and physical health problems.

Her research program, Child and Adolescent Behavioral Sleep Medicine aim to reduce
the burden of mental illness in youth by developing behavioral interventions that are effective, youth-friendly, engaging, widely disseminable, and easily accessible. This presentation is recommended for adolescents aged 13 and up, their families, and the general public.

Among Dr. Asarnow’s publications are Sleep and Mood Disorders Among Youth and Sleep in Youth with Repeated Harm and High Suicidality: Does Sleep Predict SelfHarm Risk? She received the NARSAD Young Investigator Award from the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation and the Access to Care Award from the Klingenstein Third Generation Foundation, to name a few.

The free webinar will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, from 6:30 –
7:30 pm, PST. 

Participants may join beginning at 6:15 pm. It will include 15 minutes for questions and answers following Dr. Asarnow’s presentation.

The Pleasanton, California-based Alan Hu Foundation was created by Xiaofang Chen and Chih-Ching Hu in memory of their son, Alan. He passed away due to mental disorders in 2018 at the age of 15. Their mission is to promote mental health, raise awareness and remove the stigma surrounding psychiatric disorders, and support fundamental research for cures.
